The polymer lithium-ion battery provides many advantages over other rechargeable batteries such as NiCd (nickel cadmium), NiMH (nickel metal hydride), and liquid lithium-ion battery. These advantages include 1) high
energy density; 2) long cycle life; 3) improved safety; 4) lack of a "memory" problem; 5) environmental friendly; and 6) thin and flexible form factor. Since the polymer lithium-ion battery can be made in a very thin (as thin as half a millimeter) and flexible profile, it can be used in such items as smart cards or wearable devices for medical or military applications.
